Birth of a Trike
All Trikes are custom built in a jig.
The story begins:
Remove the topbox and all panniers, the supporting frames, rear mudguard and
light units, shock absorbers, rear wheel and diff, swinging arm and propshaft
and rear braking system. Then modify the rear swinging arm bushes to accept
the new chassis.
Chassis:
Constructed out of 2.5mm thick 40mm x 40mm Box Steel, it is jigged and mig
welded to the highest standard.
Axle:
The prop and drive shafts are custom made for Baron Trikes, the donor dif
housing is from a Ford Sierra, rebuilt with custom made gearing.
Suspension:
Purpose built fully independent rear suspension (based on a racing car
design) with fully adjustable racing shocks and coil springs.
Brakes:
50/50 split using Sierra rear drums/shoes and a racing Master Cylinder. The
handbrake is an exclusive foot operated electronic Park/handbrake
with push button release.
Wheels:
Alloys, made by T.W.S./Wolfrace, wheel spinners are also availably.
Trike:
The new chassis assembly is attached to the bike at the swinging arm fixing
points and shock absorber points. The fibreglass body and extra side panels
are sprayed to match the existing base colour of the donor bike and carefully
mounted on the new structure.
